A year ago, A R Rahman signed writer-director Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy to direct his first production, 99 Songs. The two-time Academy Award, two-time Grammy Award, BAFTA, Golden Globe and four-time National Award winner had revealed that he would not only be composing the score for the film but would also, for the first time, be scripting a film. "Writing is the core vision behind any film. Since my movie is a musical, it needed a really strong script to bring it to life and create an impact," A R Rahman had reasoned last August.

The film traces the journey of a struggling singer who goes on to become a successful composer. And even though it sounds like a Rahman biopic, the debutant producer insists it isn't.

Now, Mirror has learnt that as a prelude to the film which rolls this August, Rahman will launch a 'Virtual Reality' teaser online, across social media platforms, so that audience gets a 360 degrees-feel of the project. The team began working on the VR teaser on March 10.

"Cinema has enriched our lives hugely and this can never be taken away. But cinema is also evolving constantly, and we need to adapt with the times for a more immersive experience," Rahman informed Mirror. "Virtual reality is the next big thing and that's why we're experimenting with this trailer," he added.

A South Indian actor with an understanding of music and a supporting cast featuring international musicians and actors have been locked.
