Nayandeep Rakshit (DNA; November 18, 2015)

Shah Rukh Khan will unveil his romantic song in Dilwale with Kajol this evening. This pair has done six films together (Dilwale being the seventh!), and they have doen their share of romantic songs. Their latest romantic track Rang De Mohe Gerua, is the first love song from the film.

Picturesque locales, scenic backdrops and the evergreen SRK-Kajol combo, bas aur kya chahiye? Filmed in Iceland over a period of 10 days, the Gerua song, is the Suraj Hua Madham of this generation.

Love for Kajol and Shah Rukh began when they turned Raj and Simran on screen with Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Twenty years later, DDLJ is still running at Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir. And with Dilwale, SRK and Kajol are returning to the place where it all began. The much anticipated love anthem from the film will be unveiled at the same theatre today evening, where DDLJ is still running to packed houses. Kya baat!

Here’s taking a look at the other romantic tracks featuring SRK-Kajol over the years…

Baazigar o Baazigar
The silhouette, the violin… Alka Yagnik and Kumar Sanu’s magical jugalbandi. SRK and Kajol’s dreamy love sequence. We love all that and more!

Tujhe Dekha Toh
Love songs can’t get better than this and it was Shah Rukh and Kajol’s eyes that did all the talking. We came and we fell in love with them. Over and over again!

Rain sequence in KKHH!
There’s no song but just an instrumental piece in this one but the impact this particular scene created is exemplary. Possibly one of the best scenes in the movie, this rain sequence had everything in it — the romance, the passion, the moments and obviously the lethal SRK-Kajol combo at the top of their game!

Suraj hua madhdham
Unarguably their best love song till date, Suraj hua maddham became an instant craze and is regarded as one of the best love anthems of the decade. From Kajol running in the beautiful Egypt locales to SRK doing his signature pose in a transparent white shirt, this song redefined romance and how!

Tere Naina
Soothing and soulful, this melodious track beautifully captures the brewing love between the lead pair. We loves.

James Bond loses his licence to kiss in Spectre thanks to the Censor Board

Two smooches cut by half, language sanitised to make him 'sanskari', franchise even loses its 'animal' to Indian censors
Roshmila Bhattacharya (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 19, 2015)

The Indian censors have taken James Bond to task for not only daring to passionately liplock with his leading ladies, Italian diva Monica Bellucci and French actress Léa Seydoux, but for allowing the kisses to go on and on.

“Two smooches in Spectre have not been removed but they have been reduced to a blink and miss,“ reveals an insider, pointing out that scissoring them by half won't make a difference to the film. But the move has brought down the steam quotient of the 24th Bond movie and cast a shadow over the libido of the most famous member of Her Majesty's Secret Service. On Indian shores, Agent 007 has turned from “sexy“ to “sanskari“.

Another visual which drew a frown and sparked off a 'cut' involved an animal which is key to the Bond lore. The scene in question did not involve any kind of violence. There were a few verbal cuts as well, gagging the super spy from using expletives like a**hole, ba***rd and ba**s. Only after these cuts, was the thriller, which opens this Friday, cleared by the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a 'U/A' certification.

When quizzed on the subject, censor board member Nandini Sardesai wondered what determined a “too long“ kiss. She pointed out that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone love story, Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela, which had been passed with a U/A certificate, had a really long kiss in the climax while several expletives had been allowed in Titli. “But in this case the film was only screened for the four members of the Examining Committee, along with an officer. If the makers weren't happy with the verdict, they should have approached the Revising Committee. But I guess with the release date already blocked for November 20, there was no time to arrange another screening. It's sad when makers quietly accept the decision of the Examining Committee and don't give themselves a second chance by exercising the option of moving to the Revising Committee and then the Tribunal,“ she sighed.

This new censor controversy has lead to a lot of jokes on the social media with editor-director Shirish Kunder tweeting, “No one knows women better than our Censor Board. They know for exactly how long James Bond has to kiss Monica Bellucci to satisfy her.“ He further added, “James Bond's women must be feeling so safe now that our Censor Board is there to protect their izzat & aabroo from that creep.“

PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO UNDERPERFORMS; WILL DILWALE-BM BRING CHEER?

The Diwali release Prem Ratan Dhan Payo had a record breaking opening. But later, the film kept falling, a clear indication that it has not really touched viewers’ hearts like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Salman Khan’s last release. The makers would like us to believe that the film is doing very, very well but that’s not the reality. When a film doesn’t pick up on Sunday despite a huge first day, it’s a matter of concern. Thankfully, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo stabilized during the weekdays. It remains to be seen how it fares in the second weekend. If it can sustain a bit in Week 2, even then it’ll be great.

With Prem Ratan Dhan Payo underperforming, it remains to be seen if the final 2 biggies of the year – Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani– are able to leave a huge mark. There’s Tamasha as well but I am not counting it as the former 2 films are releasing during the very profitable Christmas-New Year’s time. These 2 films HAVE to make a mark so that 2015 can end on a somewhat good note. On the flipside, both films are releasing on the same day. This can prove detrimental as both can eat into each other’s business. However, Dec end is a great time of the year. Hence, one never knows. Here’s hoping both these films entertain audiences and also bring cheer at the box office!

You don't become a singer by using auto tune-Hard Kaur

It's been over eight years since her debut single Ek Glassy struck the right chord with the audience. And Hard Kaur, who became a household name since, says she's readying for more aces
Noyon Jyoti Parasara (BOMBAY TIMES; November 20, 2015)

How did your journey start?
It all started in UK. I fell in love with hip-hop and loved the vocal technique. It allowed you wear what you want, do what you want. There were a lot of things that I want to put out there and through hip-hop, I found myself. I breathe and live hip-hop.

It is observed that hip-hop is a lot about alcohol and parties...
How can I talk about that when every song that I have done is about alcohol! My mom asked me to make something for my own people, too. and that's why I came up with Ek Glassy. I thought it would get banned, but it became a hit. I've tried to keep negativity away from my music. But, I also do real hip-hop for my soul's satisfaction. I have seen that while showing cleavage and talking about alcohol gets more hits, those who have been working sincerely for years have not found an audience yet. I'm not going to die a struggling artiste.

Why do you think it took several years (from mid 90s to 2007) for hip-hop to get popular?
Baba (Sehgal) was doing something fun, but it was not really hip-hop. I don't think anyone took rap seriously before me. I still happen to be the only female rapper. Rapping is not an easy technique. I have spent several nights writing and polishing my work.

How much of work goes into each song?
Oh, a lot. It should have a meaning, similies, and you should be smart with the rhyme and take metaphors. We use all our brain to write 16 bars, and you have to come up with something new every time. But despite so much of effort going into it, people say they don't remember the rap part of a song.

Most rap artistes are from Punjab...
There is no dearth of talent but we are only giving importance to a select few. That's because we want to listen to party songs and not songs about reality. Also, everybody sounds like Yo Yo Honey Singh these days. I respect him as a producer, but I don't particularly call it a rap. It is entertainment. A genre called desi hip-hop has been created and it is just for convenience so that we can all do the same thing.

You acted in Patiala House. When do we see you act again?
I am a drama queen but I am not an actor. Today, actors are turning singers. You don't become a singer by using auto tune. Likewise, doing one film does not make me an actress.

We believe you are forming an association.
I'm the director of a hiphop association. The big fish of the industry don't seem to want to promote these artistes and hence, we have created an association which is for artistes belonging to these five elements of hip-hop -B-boying, MCing, Graffiti, DJing and Beatboxing.

Any message for your fans?
Come on Follo and provide us feedback. Tell us about artistes you believe have the skills and can join us in this journey . Also, if you are an artiste and want to ask any question, I will be more than happy to help you.

There is a lot of noise in music today-Alka Yagnik

Alka Yagnik's comeback song Agar Tum Saath Ho in Tamasha is simple yet melodius
Tanvi Trivedi (BOMBAY TIMES; November 20, 2015)

From 1988's Ek Do Teen (Tezaab) to 2008's Ringa Ringa (Slumdog Millionaire), Alka Yagnik has become an extremely choosy singer. Quite vocal about the way Hindi film songs are losing melody and soul, she tells us about what she misses in Bollywood music, why she loves to work with A R Rahman and why she's keeping away from singing many film songs. Excerpts from the interview.

After singing for  A R Rahman in various Bollywood and international projects, you've worked with him again in Agar Tum Saath Ho.
Yes, I sang for Rahman after a long time with this number. It's a melodious duet with Arijit Singh. He was abroad when he contacted me for Agar Tum Saath Ho for the film Tamasha. We chatted over the internet on how he wanted me to sing this song. Rahman gives a lot of freedom to his artistes when it comes to singing his songs. I love his compositions and have learnt a lot from him. He just knows what kind of songs will suit my voice and personality. When I heard the song, I fell in love with it. It is very my kind of song as it has melody, emotion and longing.

We don't see you singing much in Bollywood now. Why is that?
I don't like the current music scenario where most songs lack melody and soul. There is a lot of noise in music today. There are very few songs that have melody and I like listening to. Most of them have no recall value. Besides, I also don't enjoy this whole remix thing that has cropped up in music. So how will songs which are composed today suit my voice? I can't sing anything and everything. It has to match my tonal quality so I am choosy about it.

What do you miss about your earlier days as a singer in films?
I miss the live recordings we used to do in those days. The entire song would be recorded in one go, at one place. The grandeur of those live recordings was something else, unlike today where you record the song in bits and pieces. It's like taking the bits and pieces from everywhere and putting them together. There is no regular flow now.

You have been Bollywood playback for three decades now. Over the last 30 years, what are the changes you have seen in Bollywood music?
The current phase is a different one. Among the positive changes, technologically, we have really advanced but being technologically sound is not good enough. I feel as though we have progressed so much, but at the same time, we have compromised on the soul of music. There are many good music composers but songs with an evergreen quality are hardly made now. There are also many new singers and it would be unfair to point out who is good among them all, but it remains to be seen which singer will last long here. Singers don't have a big shelf life now.

Are you promoting your niece Garima?
I would not say I am promoting Garima, but yes, she is a good singer and I would definitely like her to meet people in the industry and pursue her singing here. If she sings well, what's wrong?

What is keeping you busy right now?
Currently, I am keeping busy with my month-long tour in the US. Earlier, I was a very shy person so I kept away from live concerts and singing in front of huge crowds. I am so happy with my concerts and albums that there is hardly time to think of doing anything else. I also enjoy judging reality shows.

What is your take on music reality shows?
They give a strong platform to new singers to showcase their talent. It gives them a great opening into the music industry but the bad side is, the minute they start singing here, they think they are stars. A reality show does not promise fame to every contestant. Children give up on their studies and start behaving like stars but they don't understand that it is a long battle ahead. My advice to these young children is to stay rooted and focus on classical training. It is very easy to get into this whole glam thing and use your energies more towards the way you look and present yourself than actually sing. When I see these youngsters, I realise that they are more focussed on the media glare than on the music. The bent is more towards looking good, wearing designer clothes and presentation than singing.

Kaanta Laga girl Shefali Jariwala reveals details of her wedding to actor Parag Tyagi
Lakshmi V (BOMBAY TIMES; November 20, 2015)

It's been over a year since Kaanta Laga girl Shefali Jariwala and TV actor Parag Tyagi tied the knot in a private ceremony. While the two never felt the need to make a public announcement or host a lavish reception, they are at ease now to talk about it.

“Ours was a court marriage and my driver and our staff, whom we consider family, was our witness,“ says Shefali, adding, “My parents were in South Africa and his parents, in Delhi. We chose to tie the knot on August 12 last year because it was the same date on which he popped the question to me four years ago. We were living together before deciding to make it official. We thought it was the next gradual step.“

The actress is aware that many thought she wanted the wedding to be a secret, but tells us it was not the case. “I don't have happy memories of my previous marriage. I also didn't believe we needed to have a glittery reception to announce we were married. We'd first appeared on Nach Baliye when we were dating, and this year, we returned on the show as a married couple. But if our friends had asked for a party, we would have happily given them one,“ she adds.

So, are the two considering expanding their family? “Not now. Many believe children complete a marriage, and I like kids, too. But we are happy as a couple in our own space and haven't planned a family yet,“ she replies.

Sanyukta Iyer (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 20, 2015)

Actress Rani Mukerji, who is expecting her first child with husband, filmmaker Aditya Chopra in January, was admitted to Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital last week following minor complications.

She was advised rest under medical supervision. On Monday morning, she was discharged but she chose to continue her stay in the hospital because the baby's room at their Juhu residence is being done up and her doctors didn't think the actress should be exposed to all the dust, dirt and noise in her delicate condition.

Mirror photographer, Raju Shelar, snapped Aditya leaving the hospital after visiting his wife on Thursday. She is expected to be discharged in a few days.

The couple tied the knot on April 21, 2014, in a private ceremony in Italy. Rani's sister-in-law, TV actress Jyoti Mukerji confirmed that she's pregnant to Mirror (September 1).

Rani was in London in end July where she was spotted at a spa getting a pre-natal massage. UK is a frequent getaway for the Chopras but the baby will be born in Mumbai.

The actress will have a Bengali version of godh bharai for her pregnancy
Upala KBR (DNA; November 20, 2015)

Rani Mukerji won’t have a Westernised baby shower as is the trend these days. The actress is very clear that she wants shaad or shaad-bhakkhan mid-next month combined with a godh bharai. It is a pre-birth ceremony of a mother-to-be celebrated by Bengalis. On this special occasion celebrated in the seventh or eighth month of pregnancy, the expecting mother is pampered with her favourite foods. New clothes and gifts are also given to the mother-to-be. The idea is to keep the mother happy and surround her with positive vibes. This will be combined with godh bharai (fill the lap with abundance) or North Indian baby shower which is celebrated during pregnancy to welcome the unborn baby to the family and bless the mother-to-be and put gifts, fruits and sweets on her lap. Rani will be wearing a traditional Bengali silk saree for the ceremony. A puja will be performed before the festivities begin.

Says a source, “Rani is very traditional. Even when she got married in Switzerland it was in the traditional Bengali way with shankha (made of conch shells), sindoor and pola (bangles made of red corals). A pandit was flown in from India. And she wants the baby shower to be traditional as well. Only hitch is, Rani is not stepping out now, so the ceremony might be held at her and Adi’s bungalow. It is a women-only ritual.”

The baby’s due in January next year.

Jacqueline Fernandez
Anirban Das (MID-DAY; November 20, 2015)

If Gossip mills are to be believed, Jacqueline Fernandez was recently approached to host a new dance reality show for an American television network, but she has decided to forgo the opportunity. Apparently, the actress was in two minds about taking up the offer since there was no clarity about the judges for the show.

A source says, “The channel authorities were keen to have a Bollywood face to host the show’s maiden season. They contacted Jacqueline in September when she was in Dubai. They told her that the show would be shot in that city from January 2016, but could not share details about the judges since they were in the process of finalising the names. She waited for some time for more clarity, but finally expressed her inability to accept the offer.” The source adds that the actress conveyed to the makers about being busy with Bollywood projects and did not want the makers to delay their schedule.

While Jacqueline remained unavailable for comment, a source close to her says, “She has made up her mind not to accept the offer.”

Three years after Raaz 3D, the fourth instalment of the horror franchise will kick off in Romania in January. It marks South star Kriti Kharbanda's B'wood debut. Writer-director Vikram Bhatt confirmed the news, "Yes, the film features Emraan Hashmi, Kriti Kharbanda and Gaurav Arora. All three characters have shades of grey."

Vikram has been wrapping up another twisted love traingle, Love Games: Loving Dangerously, with Gaurav, Citylights actress Patralekha and Tara Alisha Berry. "The world will wake up to Gaurav's acting in Love Games and Raaz Rebooted will strengthen his position," Bhatt asserts, quick to add that that there can't be a Raaz film without nephew Emraan, whose character has a fresh dimension in the latest film. Angry Indian Goddesses showcases REAL Girl Power

MUMBAI MIRROR (November 20, 2015)

After rave reviews across International Festivals, Angry Indian Goddesses, directed by Pan Nalin and produced by Gaurav Dhingra is ready to release in India on 4th December. The movie, touted as India's first female buddy film with a stellar star cast, puts modern-day Indian women at the heart of the story.

The makers of the film interviewed a couple of thousand women from various walks of life as a part of their research when the script was being put together, to make it as authentic as possible. The research and writing team spent two years uncovering facts and figures about the contemporary Indian woman, her achievements, her problems, her issues and her dreams.

Director Pan Nalin's vision of the film stemmed from his observation of the highly unrealistic portrayal of women in Indian Cinema. He quotes "A huge percentage of Indian Cinema is filmed through the male perspective. Women being so tolerant by nature rarely protest about this. It's only while talking to them did we realize how seriously they want to see a realistic portrayal of women and girl bonding. Since many years, I was longing to do a film with firebrand Indian women in lead roles because shockingly, 96% of women-roles in Indian cinema is only for decoration; being a lover (means being sexy), or playing a mother, or a sister whose "izzat" the hero or the big brother must protect. Or she is the ultimate item girl!! A guy must have a gun and girl - but it will always be a guy's movie. A girl gets glamour and a 'gaana' -but still it's a guy's movie! Be it action, romcom, thriller... only the man must eat screen time, say the great lines, and get the girl in the end. Even the recent lot of all Bollywood buddy movies run high on male testosterone, as if women don't "buddy" each other!!"

The film was test screened across 17 cities in India prior to its worldwide release, and the results were explosive! The test audience which was an equal mix of both female and male, was blown away by the refreshingly true representation of women on celluloid, and were able to instantly connect with the characters.

Angry Indian Goddesses, produced by Jungle Book Entertainment and presented by Nandish Domlur of Protein Entertainment is slated for an all India release on 4th December. The promos of the film promise one roller coaster ride of a film. They have evoked a huge curiosity amongst both women and men alike, to see for the first time on Indian screen what REALLY happens when 7 girls come together!

Birthday boy Tusshar Kapoor opens up about his next few films…
Nayandeep Rakshit (DNA; November 20, 2015)

Tusshar Kapoor turns 39 today. The actor will soon turn up the heat with two back to back adult comedies — Mastizaade and Kya Kool Hain Hum 3. We cornered him for a quick chat. Excerpts:

Actors have inhibitions about acting with Sunny Leone. Did you?
I was very fond of Sunny right from the SAW (Shootout at Wadala) days when we filmed the Laila song together. In fact, I was the one who told Ekta and Sanjay Gupta to see to it that she does the song. I always thought she will be one of the most popular faces here. I cannot talk of other actors, but I feel Indian audience is the most liberal and accepting for anyone who’s good on screen. Sunny is beautiful and has a camera-friendly face. She is where she needs to be. Audiences care about what they see on screen so there was no question about doing Mastizaade as well. Of course, I was offered the film first and I did it because Milap Zaveri was the director. Sunny and Vir Das came in shortly but it’s been a riot.

Do you feel sex comedies which were considered risks before are now more of a norm?
People keep saying our audiences are not ready for it. But since Kya Kool 1 came, 10 years ago, there has been a huge audience for these kind of films too. You will be surprised to see the amount of people who like these films. They might not go with their families but they go in groups to watch them. Women especially love such films. The aunties, the young girls, in addition to the youth and masses. And I believe just one thing. No matter how shocking something is, it won’t work if the thread of the story isn’t there. You cannot run a film purely on jokes. You need to have the performance, and the storyline. Otherwise it won’t work.

And the audience too is becoming more accepting of the same…
We have had adult comedies before too, which weren’t full on sex comedies, maybe. Audience has always been ready but it took us time to gradually come out and accept it as a society.

You’ve been appreciated in your comic avatar. Comment
I enjoy doing films like Mastizaade or a Kya Kool Hai Hum because it’s in a very happy space. Also, I know I’ve been liked in this zone so it makes me feel happy. It gives you a high. These are stress-buster kind of movies.

Given censorship rules today, a bold film is a risk, no?
It’s an adult comedy and it’s in the American Pie zone sure. We always anticipated the Censor to have certain issues with certain scene. So we filmed extra material, we shot for 5-10 minutes more, presuming that there will be a few cuts.

Also there have been a lot of disparities in the way the Censor has been functioning. Your take?
Each film has to be looked at individually. From what I have heard, they are following certain guidelines. The Censor is doing their job. There’s so much thought going into what needs to be censored and what doesn’t. After all, at the end of the day, the CBFC is also doing it for the benefit of our society, our culture and I’m sure they have a lot of pressure. It’s very easy to say but very difficult to be in the chair and take decisions.

Arjun Kapoor has taken to altitude training and has been at it for over four months. The actor wanted to get fit within a short period of time. He’d already been doing pilates. Incidentally, both routines are very different. Pilates is a cardiovascular exercise and altitude training is about building strength, flexibility and body conditioning. They complement each other, so, Arjun decided to take it up.

Says his trainer, “Altitude training takes place in a room where the oxygen level has been reduced. It increases the metabolic rate, helps acclimatise, improves cardiovascular heath and improves sleep cycle. Arjun joined my studio at the end of June first for pilates and then after a few classes, he took up altitude training. He comes as often as his travel schedule permits. Usually altitude training is done for about 40 minutes but even a 30-minute workout is extremely effective. It’s like working out for more than an hour in a gym. Also, by working out in the altitude training room your metabolic rate stays high for almost 12 hours after your workout, hence we call it like pilates, a Train Smart form of exercise, as it is very effective and time efficient. A lot of people take up altitude training, celebrities, athletes, people wanting to go for a trek, or simply a holiday at higher altitude. Fitness enthusiasts also do altitude training in order to get fitter.”

Arjun has taken it up to be fit for the reality show that he is hosting

To own a luxurious vanity van equipped with modern amenities and high-end technology is always part of an actor’s wish-list. These are used by actors as make-up and dressing rooms, living room, bedroom and even mini theatres. It’s a home away from home which they transport with them wherever they shoot. Sushant Singh Rajput has been toying with the idea of getting a customised vanity van for quite a while. He is in talks with a Hong Kong-based automobile designer to redesign his vanity van. Sushant was an engineering student, before he dropped out to pursue a career in TV, so he enjoys working on the technical aspects of automobiles and machinery and so will be working closely with the design team to create a high-power, uniquely designed van. Besides being a poster boy and a fitness freak, Adam Caldera is a Sri Lankan adventurer on his way to becoming a doctor
Sanyukta Iyer (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 20, 2015)

Jacqueline Fernandez, who had been filming for Rohit Dhawan's upcoming action adventure, Dishoom, with John Abraham and Varun Dhawan in Mumbai, took off to her home in Sri Lanka last Sunday. She re-united with her childhood buddy, New York-based model-actor, Adam Caldera, who kept her smiling all week long. “The two had started off their modelling careers together. Jacky and Adam have been close since she began ramp walking. In 2006, she was crowned Miss Universe Sri Lanka. After that, both moved out of Colombo to pursue their respective careers. Jacky entered Bollywood while Adam headed out to the Sex and the City land,“ a source close to the actress told Mirror.

Since then, the actress has been linked up with a Bahraini royal, Kick co-star Salman Khan and Arjun Kapoor. But she has always laughed off the rumours and has kept Adam in hiding all this while. He is a Ford supermodel, a Sri Lankan adventurer and on his way to becoming a doctor. To top it, he has an eight-pack, is a fitness freak who like Jacky sips wheat grass shots and practises Pilates six days a week. He also shares her love for animals. Jacky was missing her pet cat, Miu Miu, when on holiday, and Adam was more than ready to cheer her up. “The two shot for three days for a jewellery brand and spent the rest of the time travelling together. They will be back in Colombo next month and will be endorsing multiple brands as a couple,“ says the source.

Katrina Kaif has been living in with Ranbir Kapoor for close to a year now at an impressive rented address on Mumbai's Carter Road. The much-in-love superstar couple has never discussed their personal life at media interactions but they have not hidden their relationship either. While the constant, will-they-won't-they-walk-up-the-altar guessing game continues to preoccupy most people' the couple is currently blissful in their own space.

One hears that at a recent party that Kat and RK attended, the actress very sweetly pecked Rishi Kapoor on his cheek and asked him, “Hi Papa, how are you?“ That's a positive sign as far as the Kat-RK relationship goes.

A host of of Bollywood biggies attended the launch of Shilpa Shetty’s book on fitness last afternoon. However, Hrithik Roshan, whose name was on the official invite, was missing from the scene. Sources say when the actor did not show up at the scheduled time, Shilpa decided to go ahead with the launch sans him. “According to the invitation, Amitabh Bachchan, Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan were guests of honour for the event. But, Hrithik did not turn up and the reason was not explained,” says a source present at the do.

It is said that the star was shooting for Mohenjo Daro in Bhuj and missed his flight to Mumbai. Adds the source, “Hrithik had promised Shilpa to be present at the launch, but since his morning shoot was delayed, he could not make it to the airport on time.”

Hrithik was unavailable for comment, but a source close to him says, “He wanted to board the next flight, but, unfortunately, it was available only in the evening. When he enquired about a private chartered flight service, he was told that securing permission would take a lot of time. So, he was forced to cancel his visit, but informed Shilpa about it.”

Shilpa confirms the story and says, “Hrithik could not make it due to unforeseen circumstances, but he was really keen to be part of the event. He made every effort to be there.”

Sunny Deol had a close shave during the shoot of the Ghayal sequel. The action-packed thriller, which introduces four debutants, Shivam Patil, Rishabh Arora, Daina Khan and Aanchal Munjal, traces the journey and trials of Ajay Mehra, the aspiring boxing champ from the original, from 1990 to 2015. A crucial jail sequence required Sunny Deol, who returns with the iconic character after a quarter of a century, to go bald. It was integral to the script of Ghayal Once Again and for a few minutes, the actor-director toyed with the idea of tonsuring his head before opting for prosthetics to ensure continuity.

A UK-based prosthetic and makeup artist Clover Wootton, who has settled in India and is a popular name in Bollywood, was roped in. “She worked on the look before the shoot,“ informs co-producer Sunil Saini, admitting that the actor was taken aback when he saw himself in the mirror. “But he was happy because this was also what he had wanted. He's been under a lot of stress and mental trauma in jail and the shaving of the head is part of the treatment. It has a calming effect on him and puts him on the path to recovery.“

It was just a one-day shoot but Sunny admits that the prosthetics alone took five-six hours and was “quite tedious“. He's not just happy with the look but also the overwhelming response to the trailer. “It has reached 3 millions views collectively on all digital platforms,“ he exults.

His second film as a director, which he has written, acted in and produced, is targeting a January 15 release. What about two other films featuring him, Bhaiyyaji Superhitt and Mohalla Assi? “The producers of these films would be in a better position to answer questions related to them,“ he signs off.
