Sooraj Pancholi on turning 25 and future plans
Nayandeep Rakshit (DNA; November 9, 2015)

Hero might not have worked, but it was a great launchpad for Sooraj Pancholi. As he turns 25 today, he talks about becoming more responsible, having intimate birthdays and his career prospects. Ask him what are his birthday plans and he rues, “I am not a birthday person at all.” Excerpts:

How do you usually spend your birthdays?
Always with my family. Mom and Dad drop in along with my sister Sana and I make sure that we have at least one meal together, either lunch or dinner. My sister is more excited about my birthday than I am. She keeps calling me two weeks prior to my birthday asking me what I would like to have on my birthday.. We cut a cake, have good food. But I sleep early and they party till the wee hours. They just need a reason to party, so they enjoy my birthday more than I do.

Don’t you like celebrating your birthday?
I’ve never been that person who has loved celebrating it. Obviously, my birthday is a special day for me, personally, but I don’t go all out. I usually prefer spending it with those close to me.

How do you plan to celebrate your birthday this year?
I will have a quiet family lunch this year. We are having lunch because my mom will leave for shoots post that. Other than that, I will be busy with my training. This year, although I am not shooting, I will not have too much time left.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
I see myself living in my own house, being the boss of my own life. I want a settled career and want to see my parents happy and proud. I also want to buy a house for my mom in Hyderabad because every month she goes there and she has to stay at a relative’s house. So I want to buy her a house.
