The actor likened himself to a 'raped woman' during a media interaction recently.
MUMBAI MIRROR (June 22, 2016)

Salman Khan just can't seem to catch a break from controversies. The 50-yearold landed in hot water on June 18 when he compared himself to a "raped woman" during a media interaction at Mumbai's Mehboob Studio.

When asked about the gruelling training schedule he underwent for his upcoming wrestler drama, the actor said, "While shooting during those six hours, there was so much of lifting and thrusting that it was unbelievable. If I was lifting a 120 kg person and dropping him down, I had to do it 10 times... from five different angles. So, six-and-a-half or seven hours... When I used to walk out of the ring, I used to feel actually like a raped woman walking out. It was most difficult. I couldn't take steps. I would eat and then head right back to weight training."

Meanwhile, the incident gathered steam on the social media only on Monday, June 20, after a website carried the detailed quotes from the interview.

While social media users criticised Salman for his "callous remarks", the National Commission for Women (NCW) demanded that the actor furnish an apology within seven days with Chairperson Lalitha Kumaramangalam saying he may be issued a summon if he failed to comply.

Several journalists present at the interaction session opined that Salman was misquoted. No statement has been issued from the actor's side nor has he addressed the controversy on the digital platform but his father, veteran scriptwriter Salim Khan, came forward to apologise on his behalf, tweeting, "Undoubtedly, what Salman said is wrong, the simile, example and the context. The intention was not wrong. Nevertheless, I apologise on behalf of his family, his fans and his friends. Forgiveness is to pardon the unpardonable or it is no virtue at all."
