MUMBAI MIRROR (May 2, 2016)

After making her Bollywood debut with R Balki's Shamitabh, Akshara, younger daughter of actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan, will serve as an assistant director on the latter's upcoming trilingual, Sabaash Naidu. Also featuring his elder actress-daughter, Shruti, the film goes on the floors in May.

“Akshara has joined the project and will be assisting director Rajeev Kumar. This is the first time Kamal sir will be working with both his daughters on a project. Shruti plays his daughter in the film,“ a source from the film's unit said.

To be simultaneously made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, the film also stars Ramya Krishnan and Manu Narayanan in significant roles. Shooting commences on May 16 in the US, where nearly 80 per cent of it will be shot. Tipped to be an action-comedy, it will have music by Tamil maestro Ilaiyaraaja.

Kamal took to social media last week to praise his daughter-cum-costar, writing, “Shruti and I will always be open to learn good things from others. I learn certain things from Shruti. She's more humble than I at her age,“ while Shruti thanked him for making her a part of his new film.
