The first screenings of all Nadiadwala’s movies are always held for his mother and close family members

Various filmmakers have various beliefs. Some believe in beginning the names of their movies with a particular alphabet, while others want the release date that has proved lucky for them. But Sajid Nadiadwala doesn’t have any such superstitions.

However, the filmmaker does follow one ritual. Whenever a movie is complete, he shows the first cut of the film to his mother and his family members. He has been doing this for decades now and the trend has continued with his forthcoming release Baaghi, starring Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor. The film releases tomorrow and Sajid arranged a screening of the film for his mother Shafaat and wife Wardha, their kids and extended family before his screenings for friends from the industry.

In fact, the same ritual is followed by two other prolific filmmakers — Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra. Though the genres that these filmmakers dabble in are diverse, this is one thing that common between the trio. Says a source, “Everyone close to them knows that these three don’t show their films to their actors or other friends until their mothers have blessed their movie. In Aditya and Sajid’s case, their respective wife’s opinion also matters a lot. What ever the genre or scale of the film may be, this is almost a sacrosanct ritual. It’s nice to see three dynamic producers taking the opinions of their loved ones where it really matters.”
