WILL SRK’S FAN EMERGE AS HIS BIGGEST HIT?
Shah Rukh Khan’s last film Dilwale was an underperformer. The response was strictly okay and the tough competition from Bajirao Mastani made things worse. However, things are all set to change for the superstar hopefully starting with Fan that releases tomorrow. It’s totally out of the box and hence has made many people curious.
The promotional strategy adopted by the makers was fabulous. During SRK’s 50th birthday, they released the teaser of the film that showed that SRK is playing 2 roles – one of the superstar and one of the fan. And both in a way look identical! The fan is called Gaurav, a 24 year old Dilliwallah who is crazy for Aryan Khanna the superstar. His obsession for Gaurav in the teaser and also the song Jabra Fan looked very adorable. But then the makers dropped a surprise! They released the trailer that showed that Gaurav’s obsession turns dangerous for Aryan and how! Suddenly, Gaurav who looked innocent now seemed dangerous! And the action scenes in the film wherein SRK is chasing SRK and even hitting himself in a way looks bloody awesome! The purpose was served and despite what is perceived as low buzz, the film can open well tomorrow.
Yes, the opening will not be earth shattering as this is an unconventional film. But yet, the opening will be impressive and it remains to be seen how people react to the film. A bad response will still lead to decent collections but that would not be enough. The film has to work big time. SRK deserves it and looking at the promos, Fan deserves to set the box office on fire!
