After a flying visit to India, Priyanka Chopra is back in Montreal shooting for her TV series Quantico. The difference is that now she can attach a 'Padma Shri' before her name.
She accepted the fourth highest civilian honour from President Pranab Mukherjee at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday, looking like the quintessential sunshine girl in a beautiful yellow sari. Nafisa Ali who spent time with PeeCee's mother, told Mirror that Madhu Chopra who was brimming with pride and joy, had wanted her daughter to wear a glamorous outfit while receiving her award. "But Priyanka insisted on a hand-woven sari as she wants to extend her support to the weaver's community," informs the Junoon and Life... In a Metro actress who was at the party hosted by industrialistpolitician Dr Subbarami Reddy for the actress at a luxury hotel in Delhi.
"As soon as Priyanka entered, she was surrounded by guests who wanted to click pictures with her. She was the star of the evening and obliged everyone," compliments Nafisa, saying the desi girl cut a pretty picture in beige Sabyasachi designer wear. Abhineta-turned-neta Shatrughan Sinha and actor Nikhil Dwivedi were the other Bollywood invitees. Tollywood's actor-director-producer Mohan Babu, a former Rajya Sabha member, was also present, along with designers Rohit Bal and Ritu Beri.
"In my 38 years career in films, I've seen people change, but Priyanka has remained unchanged. When I approached her for a keepsake memento, she took my phone and clicked a picture perfect selfie of us together," beams Nafisa who never misses a single episode of Quantico.
Priyanka was surrounded by several members of her extended family, including Parineeti Chopra's parents Pawan and Reena Chopra. At around 10 pm she retired to her room to spend some quality time with her family before she took the flight back to Canada. "They clicked a family photo together in the room. It was an unforgettable day for the Chopras who can now boast of having a Padma Shri in their family tree," says Nafisa.
