THE JUNGLE BOOK had a very strong first day as it grossed 10 crore nett apprx. The film was excellent in Mumbai circuit and South India. In the South there was a big Telugu film but it only really affected in Nizam/Andhra as Mysore and Tamil Nadu/Kerala raked in huge collections of 1.30 crore nett respectively
There was a holiday for Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra which enabled to put up a huge 3.80 crore nett in Mumbai circuit. The other circuits were less but that is where the potential to grow is very big. Mumbai growth may be hard due to the holiday but other places should make up for it.
The families will come out on Saturday and Sunday and normally huge growth would be expected for this genre but the holiday factor may even things up a little. The film is the third highest opening for Hollywood in India after FAST & FURIOUS 7 and AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON which were 12 crore nett and 11 crore nett respectively.
