Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt stumbled upon the idea of upcoming film Love Games his when he met people who made shocking revelations about their sexual experiences and relationships with their partners. One such girl he met made startling confessions which prompted him to explore the idea right away. He narrates what she told him, “'I have had threesomes. I hope you don't judge me.' It took a lot of courage for a girl to share this with me on just our third date. Fate did not allow the affair to last long but her confession stayed with me. I saw the makings of a film in her sexual deviance. I wanted to explore this world of threesomes and swinging.“ Ask him what was his immediate reaction to her honest admission and he quips, “I didn't judge her. Rather, I found it exciting.“
He admits that when he began writing the film, which is produced by T-Series and Vishesh Films and stars Patralekha, Gaurav Arora and Tara Alisha Berry, he realised that the core of this forbidden behaviour is love. “Some did it to escape commitment and others did it because that was the only way they knew how to find love,“ says Vikram.
When he started doing research for the erotic thriller, the real-life stories of people amazed him. “A husband, who was involved in swinging, once confided in me that women hold the key to this arrangement. If they are game, it's game on. Another confident wife had said that she feels a sense of power when her husband sleeps with another woman but comes back to her. She had said, 'Life is too short to crave for your desires. I enjoy being objectified. It's better than cheating. It's about deep trust,“' he recalls.
This inspired him to write the first line of the script - This is a story of a boy who was looking for love in the world of lust. So, in the world of lust is it easy to find love? “It is easy to find partners, not love. Dating is on your fingertips. It is a playfield of relationships with the Internet springing up more options. Man has fallen victim to seduction since times immemorial. How many people can resist it, now that it is so easy?“ signs off the director-producer.
Love Games releases on April 8.
