It's raining awards for Armaan Malik. The singer, who recently walked away with the Mirchi Music Award for The Best Indie Pop Song (Main rahoon ya na rahoon), says all the recognition coming his way has fuelled his desire further to hit the right note with the audience in films and independent music.

Armaan says, “This award is special because it is based on listeners' choice and feedback. I was nominated last year too, but I didn't win.“ How did the Maliks share his moment of glory? “We nearly broke down,“ he states, adding, “The song is close to my heart as I remembered my grandfather (legendary singer Sardar Malik) while recording it. Both Amaal and I were in tears. The success of the song has proved that Indie pop genre is still a favourite with the audience. We usually get to sample dance numbers in this space, but Main rahoon...was like a breath of fresh air. It is melodious and resonates with people across all age groups. Emraan Hashmi (who featured in it) had said that it will live on for years to come.“

Cashing in on the success of his debut single, he is now planning another song, which will feature him, too. “I would like it to be a R&B (Rhythm and Blues) track and pop-infused song,“ he reveals.

Talking about his upcoming film tracks, the young singer says, “Foolishq from Ki & Ka gave me a chance to work with renowned composer Ilaiyaraaja and Shreya Ghoshal. I'm awaiting the release of Buddhu sa mann from Kapoor & Sons (Since 1921). The family in the song is like the Maliks; what happens in the song is exactly what happens at my home,“ he sums up.
