Bhumi Pednekar supports the dna iCan initiative, offers tips on alienating ailments
Upala KBR (DNA; March 3, 2016)

Fitness is my lifestyle today. It’s the best ‘me time’ I get and it sets my zone for the day. It means pure concentration for me.

How I keep fit
It is extremely important for women to be as fit as men. A girl’s body starts going through major changes at a very young age — be it hormonal or physical. Being fit is the core of having a healthy life and alienating any sort of ailments in the future.

I keep fit by eating healthy, nutritious yet tasty food and being active all day long. I try and include some sort of physical activity in my schedule every day. Train yourself to listen to your body. I jog and swim, but apart from that, I play badminton or squash as well. Not all of it together (laughs). I try and mix up my workouts.

A study in transformation
When I played a plus-sized girl in my debut film Dum Laga Ke Haisha, my first post was about the fun little things I did to lose weight... and it was called #LoseItLikeBhumi.

Principles of fitness
The three principles of fitness I follow, are - be disciplined, don’t go off your schedule and stick to your diet. Keeping your nutrition levels in check is a very vital part of fitness. Try and work out for at least 45 minutes a day.

Men can celebrate Women’s Day with us by just being gentlemen, being supportive, the best version of them, which I feel boys today are.

Be healthy, be happy
I haven’t run a marathon yet, but I would love to someday. I know about the dna Women’s Half Marathon. It’s a great initiative. Women tend to ignore themselves and their health and prioritise things above their fitness. But this is wrong. If you’re healthy and happy, your loved ones would be, too.
