John Abraham’s upcoming film Rocky Handsome finds itself in conflict with the Censor Board. Reportedly, the film is too violent for mass consumption and was reluctantly granted an ‘A’ certificate by the Board.
However the makers are not willing to take the ‘A’ certificate and are insisting on a ‘U/A’ rating. Says a source in the know, “If you’ve seen the original Korean film The Man From Nowhere, that too was a very violent film. Rocky Handsome has scenes of graphic violence. There are also references to human trafficking, the flesh trade and violence against children. No censor in the world would allow this film for universal exhibition.”
Says an appalled source from the Censor Board, “We gave them a clear ‘A’ with no cuts in spite of the violence. But they insist they want a ‘U/A’. Content with so much violence is not suited for certain sections of the audience, like children.”
