MUMBAI MIRROR (February 23, 2016)

Writer-filmmaker Yogesh Raut who last directed the TV episodic, Mano Ya Na Mano, inspired from Ripley's Believe It Or Not, is all set to helm the first 'found footage' film in Marathi.

Titled Episode 13, the film is narrated from the camera's point of view. “It is the fictitious footage recorded by a TV crew of a news channel that goes to Kalshewadi to shoot the 13th episode of their weekly non-fiction TV show called Shodh (Search),“ reveals the director, adding that the narrative is not from the director's perspective.

The idea for the film, which won't have known faces, background music or sophisticated camera shots so it resembles home-disaster videos shot in real time, came to Yogesh from Dibakar Banerjee's 2010 anthology film, Love Sex Aur Dhokha. “After LSD, I started thinking of the format which has never been tried in India. In the last decade we have seen foreign films like The Blair Witch Project, Rec, Cloverfield and Paranormal Activity. I liked the way of narrating a story from the character's point of view as this style creates a deeper impact on the viewer and looks authentic.“
