The Danish Girl tells a very unusual story about a woman trapped in a man’s body and how he struggles to find his identity at a time when awareness of such conditions were not widely known. The dynamics between the lead characters is something to watch out for. Alicia Vikander as Gerda really moves viewers. She finds herself in a dilemma but still she does what she thinks is right. Great performances by Alicia and Eddie Redmayne (another memorable performance after The Theory Of Everything). But the direction doesn’t really engage at certain places. The film moves at a very slow pace, only to suddenly pace ahead in the finale which looks very strange. However, a fine attempt for sure! The good news is that there are some‘controversial’ and frontal nudity scenes and nothing has been removed by the Censors, believe it or not!
