“Most of the guests who are regulars had come prepared to party for the next two days. When I left at 7 am, my feet were sore but Salman was still dancing to “O, O Jaane Jaana“, “Jumme Ki Raat“ and “Tan Tana Tan Tan Tara“. Surrounded by friends and family he was happy and unstoppable!“ signed off a first-timer.

On Saturday evening, all roads led to Panvel as Bollywood’s most desirable bachelor Salman Khan brought in his 50th birthday at his farmhouse there. Having wrapped up his work commitments early, the birthday boy parked himself at the party venue since afternoon. The entire place was elaborately illuminated, the grandeur enhanced by the steady stream of celebs, both from within and outside B-Town.
The guest list had 400 names, but the turnout was a tad less than that. “Both Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan had confirmed their presence, but were nowhere to be seen at the party. In fact, Aamir’s name was at the top of the list, but he could not make it since he is travelling with family for New Year celebrations. Shah Rukh also skipped the party because he was busy with some work. Katrina Kaif (Salman’s ex flame) had also been invited, but she gave the celebrations a miss,” says a source present at the bash.
In attendance were a host of Bollywood biggies including Anil Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, Rajkumar Hirani, Suniel Shetty, Farah Khan, Subhash Ghai, apart from several actresses and producers. Also seen was tennis champ Sania Mirza.
Before cutting his birthday cake, Salman stepped out of the farmhouse to greet the surging crowd of mediapersons waiting to speak to him. During the interaction, the star spoke about the milestones in his career and what he feels about turning 50. He opened up about his personal setbacks, especially his 2002 hit-and-run case, saying a clean chit by the High Court was a burden off his parents’ shoulders and that he would fight the case out in the Supreme Court too.
As the clock struck 12, confetti rained all around and the cake arrived. “It was a special, three-tier cake. On top, it bore pictures of Salman’s beloved pet dogs MyJaan and MySon, who passed away a few years ago, and then there was a Being Human (the actor’s charity foundation) tag and on the last tier, was a collage of his pictures. There were loud cheers and the Happy Birthday song rent the air as Salman cut the cake and fed it to his guests,” adds the source.
It was then time for the guests to hit the dance floor. Kangana Ranaut was among the first few celebs to shake a leg, grooving to the Banno tera swagger from her last hit, Tanu Weds Manu Returns. Young actor Sooraj Pancholi, whom Salman launched in his home production Hero a few months ago, performed on Badtameez dil from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013). Then, it was the turn of the birthday boy, who seemed jovial and glowed all night. Salman danced to quite a few of his songs amid wolf whistles and claps.
The star’s rumoured girlfriend Lulia Vantur was also present, mostly by his side throughout the party that continued till the early hours of Sunday. The Romanian model photo-bombed some of the guests’ pictures.
