It is said that life works in pleasantly mysterious ways and music director Amaal Mallik can vouch for that. A chance meeting with producer Bhushan Kumar got him the opportunity to compose Sooraj Dooba Hai, which became a chartbuster overnight. The 24-year-old had never expected the song to become a rage. “For two to three years I didn't have any takers for the song. Everyone thought it was an ordinary track and even I started losing confidence. But once it released, there was no looking back,“ he says.
The youngster doesn't shy away from trying new things with each of his compositions. After making his Bollywood debut with Salman Khan's Jai Ho in 2014, Amaal has delivered multiple hits this year. From Saiyaan superstar to Main hoon hero tera, Chaar shanivaar and his latest, Tumhe apna banane ka, all of them have been popular with music aficionados. “I make music straight from the heart and that is what connects me with the audience. I make soulful songs with a melody even in my dance tracks,“ he asserts.
Amaal is also one of the few Bollywood composers who have managed to dabble successfully with singles. After the hugely popular Zindagi aa raha hoon main, he delivered the melodious Chal wahan jaate hai. His recently-released track Main rahoon ya na rahoon has also been loved by his fans. He says, “Success doesn't scare me but it comes with responsibility. I always try to do better than my last work and give my best.“
He is looking forward to 2016 as he has some big films lined up including Airlift, Sanam Re and M S Dhoni: An Untold Story, in which he will compose all the six songs of the album.
